The Medicinal Roots of my Practice:
Ancestral Healing, Aromatherapy, Plant Medicine Integration
Ancestral Healing
When we consider our patterns, the time comes when we must consider their origins and recognize both the blessings and wounds that our lineage holds. This work is about helping you explore & get to the root of patterns that have been carried through time, for generations, into your current experience.
The influence that our ancestors can have in our lives is profound and so is the growth that can come when we begin looking beyond ourselves. This way of working helps us see the aspects of ourselves that are unconsciously identifying with patterns, stories, neurosis, and/or illnesses that have been passed down to us through our epigenetics. Deep liberation is available when we combine psychotherapy with ancestral level healing.
I started formally offering this work at a time that was in truest alignment with my own ancestry. It is said in the Kaballah, (The Jewish Kabbalah is a set of esoteric teachings that forms the foundation of mystical religious interpretations within Judaism. -Wikipedia) that when a Woman’s bleed begins to come to an end she is only then ready to hold this type of mystical space for others. I have spent many years doing this work and received formal training with Tirzah Firestone in 2022. I intimately understand the ways our physical, mental, emotional, spiritual bodies & psyche, carry the stories of our ancestors
that have come before us. For some, the influence of these stories means life or death.
When we create relationship with our ancestors we create relationships that become part of our web of support. You are not alone, and this work can greatly serve our sense of belonging in the world. The ripple effect of this work is hard to put into words. It holds the capacity to heal trauma that may go back many generations. When we heal our relationship with our ancestry, it is not only a contribution to ourselves, it is a contribution to our cultural wounds as well. Our therapeutic models thrive when they include “all our relations”; when they remind us that we are part of the unseen and the unseen a part of us.
Hear me when I say, I know how challenging this work can be. It is a profound and important undertaking.
When these layers come up, know that I will hold impeccable space for you and your lineage.
Aromatherapy as Energetic Medicine
As someone whose relationship to the unseen is highly developed, I have a long history of connection with the natural world. This orientation to nature’s rhythm teaches me to discern whether or not the essence of an offering is in alignment with my work. When I came across the medicine makers from Wisdom of the Earth, and learned about their approach to crafting essential oils, I knew I had found a lineage that truly understands & honors plants as medicine.
Essential oils have the capacity to help you connect to your own essential nature, they allow you to feel and experience who you are wanting to become. When I offer a plant to you, it is as a guide, a friend, and an ally. When we ask the plants for their help the response is an immediate and direct signal to your nervous system & body. This is why I love this medicine.
The plants have a special capacity to take you deeper into relationship with your process & offer a type of healing that is not accessible through any other modality. In my experience, this is one of the quickest ways to get to the heart of the matter. I have seen people shift gears, in an instant.
Wisdom of the Earth makes the only energetically pure oils that I have come in contact with. The integrity and safety that goes into everything they do makes their work a match for my practice. The practices they have in place extend to their relationships with employees, farmers and the people that consume their products. WOTE doesn’t allow anyone who is having an “off” day to pour oils bottled for consumption by the public. Many of their days are spent in connection with farmers who grow the plants being distilled. They call to inquire about the farmers families and health - knowing that this affects the growth and energetics of the plants. The oils I offer you in a session fundamentally hold not only the plant medicine but also the essence of teachings around how to give and receive with reciprocity. This lineage has inspired and unlocked my understanding of the true power of aromatherapy and the plants have become powerful helpers.
I am a level 1 certified aromatherapist through WOTE.
As a psychotherapist it is my job to know what questions to ask to get to the root. It is worth noting the plants can treat ailments on any level, be that mental, psychic, spiritual, emotion or physical. I listen to what you need support around & ask lots questions to help clarify with the guidance of the plants what medicine wants to come through for you.
The plants have a playful, practical magic. They also offer a divine olfactory experience.
Working on many layers at once, the plants create opportunities to integrate energetic upgrades throughout our sessions.
Plant Medicine Integration
As a psychotherapist and a human that is in close relationship with Nature I understand the delicate, potent and reverential territory of working with plant medicines. What is often undervalued in this ceremony is the art of integration. It is a key pillar in all of my work, because without it, we don’t fully honor the full arc of any healing journey. Integration is where completion happens, it is where we harvest the lessons and learn to live them.
Working with a psychotherapist through this process can be highly beneficial as your journey will bring up subconscious and unconscious layers. Oftentimes there is more material than a single human can sort through on their own. To truly receive the insight and gifts of a journey, I help you turn the information you receive into lived wisdom.
A journey is a non-linear experience where we receive wisdom in the shape of symbols, images, deep felt sense knowings and other sensory information that we will work with so you can receive the mirroring, the space and the support of a trained professional to help you interpret & receive the insights from the plant. Our culture often underestimates the amount of time needed to truly integrate a psychedelic journey. I find that good bodywork, ancestral healing and aromatherapy are all incredible tools post journey. When we access the realms of plant consciousness it is important to honor them by owning our responsibility to integrate what we have learned.
